She Almost Didn’t Tell Her Story — Here’s Why She Did

I just returned from an incredible vacation—hiking in Utah with friends—and was completely off the grid for 10 days.

No email, no texting, no social media.

I made this intentional choice so I could truly appreciate where we were. I didn’t want to have regrets about not being fully present.

That idea was inspired, in part, by my recent client S., who has an incredibly uplifting attitude toward living life to the fullest.

S. grew up with an older sister and a father who both had diabetes—at a time when treatment was difficult and the diagnosis was kept secret.

For a little girl, that was a heavy burden to hold. Yet it shaped her into an exceptionally positive person.

She told me she always knew everyone was going to die, so when loved ones passed, she mourned, but she kept going.

“You can’t let it stop you from doing the next thing you want to do or have to do,” she said.

And yet this project almost didn’t happen.

S. came to me through a referral and was excited at first—but after watching other people’s films, she told me she wasn’t going to do it.

She didn’t think she had enough of a story to tell.

I’m so thankful S. changed her mind.

As you can see from the clip above, she not only has powerful lessons to share but memories her family will cherish for years to come.

If you’ve been thinking about capturing your—or a loved one’s—story, please don’t wait.

Reach out, and we can figure out together how to make it happen.
