Putting Things In Perspective
Pauline Newman grew up during wartime in
Europe. She lived through
persecution as a Jew, with harrowing tales of near-death experiences
and stories of simple survival. For one such tale, she recounts leaving
in the middle of the night because they heard a relative had potatoes,
"something to eat." Her story helps to put our present day struggles
into perspective.
